Last year, my son decided to go on a diet and take off his extra pounds. He is 6’7”and carried his weight well. But he knew that he was not at his healthiest. When he described his diet to me, I couldn’t believe it. I argued that he would never lose fat by eating bacon! I was wrong. In a matter of weeks, he dropped thirty pounds. He looked and felt great. He tried to talk me into going on the strange diet, but I admit I was afraid of it. I had high blood pressure and was pre-diabetic. The more he argued how healthy the Keto diet was, the more adamant I became that I would not try it.
Then, a routine heart checkup led to a heart cath. Surprisingly, I had 3 blockages and had to have a stint. The diet that the hospital gave me was strict and, in my opinion, ridiculous. Luckily my heart Doctor’s PA had just lost 80 pounds on the Keto Diet and she suggested that I try it.
The Keto Diet is absolutely the easiest diet that I have ever been on. The pounds seemed to drop off like magic. To date, I have lost 55 pounds! I rarely get hungry. I don’t have cravings that I can’t deal with. People can sit right across from me and eat chocolate cake and I have no desire to cheat.
I limit myself to 18 carbs a day. It is not that hard to do. I use the Carb Manager App to help me keep up with everything. I suggest that anyone going on Keto download the app.
My secret weapon against cravings is Walden’s Chocolate. I put a tablespoon in my coffee and make shakes.
I collect recipes and save on my Pinterest page. I have found a few that like, but I usually make changes. I thought I would share recipes that I like. If you have recipes that you enjoy, I hope you will share them.
You should never go on a diet of any kind without your doctor’s advice. This is especially true of the Keto diet.
I would love to hear your Keto Success stories.
