December has arrived and November has gone out like a flickering candle in a chilly breeze. I was hardly aware of its coming and going despite the unusually cold weather that caught us all by surprise.
I had worked for months preparing for Santa’s Sleigh, a local craft show, then, literally hours before it began, I was brought to a screeching halt with health issues. Now, as I begin to stir from my inactivity, I am besieged with dolls, fabric and other craft supplies that have found their way to almost every room in my house. It cries out to me persistently.
My “normal” mode of housekeeping is to work in 15 minute intervals. It is slow and frustrating at times and I still deal with feelings of guilt that I cannot do more. Honestly, I am so eager to clean this mess that 15 minutes would be heavenly.
Today promises to be a beautiful day. The sun shines through the lace curtains on my huge sliding glass doors. The sky is bright blue. How can anyone bear to lay around on a day like this? There is so much to do! I cannot decorate for Christmas until the house is clean.
Our tree and ornaments have been brought in and sleep undisturbed in their storage boxes. They wait for the time they are brought out and lovingly unwrapped . Each is a delight and stir loving memories of Christmas past in our home. When my children were young, the tree was decorated on Thanksgiving Day. Now, the day varies. The memories have multiplied exponentially.
